UNLV SoM Commute – 2021.06.16

Just when you think you can leave a job site to let folks finish up a job. On and off all Monday afternoon I was chatting back and forth with the technician at the SoM regarding the project we had been working on. After trying to troubleshoot the problems they were experiencing I came to the conclusion the best bet would be to halt, make some updates, and start over again. Well today was the day to start over. Took about 4.5 hours to get to the point where I felt confident I could leave things in their hands to finish up.

Before leaving the SoM I had a flat as a nasty surprise that required servicing. After a quick tube swap I was ready to roll. The ride back to campus went well enough despite the heat. Ride was pretty quick only taking 30 minutes. Made it back in time to only be 15 minutes late for a weekly meeting. Spent the rest of the day in the office catching up on office work and preparing myself for the ride home.

The ride home was uneventful thankfully. I was unable to find and repair the puncture on the tube the flatted on me which meant riding home without a spare tube. Did have a repair kit and extra CO2 so if worse came to worse I could have stopped, hopefully patched the tube, and ride on. Thankfully it didn’t come to that.

The ride in the heat started off like any other ride in the heat, but I was starting to feel it as I passed Del Webb. Was able to finish strong, but definitely not feeling as exuberant as I was last night. Not sure if that was due to the heat or fatigue from all the miles I’ve logged this week.

Jury it out on if I’ll commute in tomorrow to wrap up the week or not.
