Alternative title: Racing Mother Nature.
Left the house a little later than I’d hoped. I got a message at the end of Wednesday’s ride that my power meter battery was low. Of course why do immediately what you can put off for a couple days. Always have issues fighting with getting the battery cover reinstalled with the gasket. The result was I rolled up to Scrambled a few minutes later than usual and the buggers had given my table to someone else! That’s what I get for not being there when the doors open. Either that or it’s time to start searching for another haunt.
The ride into the office after breakfast was pretty chill and uneventful, which is a great way to start the day.
Leaving work the skies to the north were looking pretty gnarly. The winds were picking up a little, but nothing to worry about. It wasn’t until after I passed Eastern along Hacienda that I started getting nervous about the weather. The winds started picking up and I started worrying I was going to get soaked. So what was supposed to be a nice chill evening ride home turned into a race against Mother Nature to get home before the skies opened up on me or I got blown over. With the help of a nice tail wind set a bunch of PRs along the way home and, thankfully, didn’t get wet.
Now for a relaxing evening before getting up before the crack of dawn for tomorrow’s group ride.
