Commute Loop – 2024.04.29

I’m absolutely in love with the spring mornings we’ve been having these past couple weeks. I don’t think you could ask for better riding weather.

I’ll admit the winds were a little strong out of the south/southwest at the start which made the Democracy descent a little tricky. Following a “Student Driver” in their white sedan didn’t help things either. I just nursed the brakes while keeping loose until I was on the flat. Not a big deal really.

The nice thing about winds out of the south/southwest is they make the ride north along LVB a dream. Was motoring pretty good and enjoying myself for the entire length of LVB. Had a nice 30 MPH interval during the airport flyby. I really love the new asphalt along that stretch, but I wish they would have reduced the width of the center median in order to make room for a proper bike lane. It’s one of the sketchier stretches of the morning commute.

Of course the winds picked up throughout the day, and when it was time to go home they were proper gusty. Got blown around some along Flamingo, but the wide bike lane makes it carefree. The intervals along Pecos went well, but I was definitely lugging some fatigue from yesterday’s group ride. I did the best I could with what I had.
