Commute Loop & LVAV Tuesday Night Ride – 2025.05.06

Dave was certainly on a mission tonight. I held back at first to ride with Artur only for him to tell me he knew the route and for me to go on. The closest I got to Dave after that was watching him ride away westbound on Tropicana as I sat at the light on Hualapai.

I had this delusion that I could catch him or he would wait at the regular regroup spots and neither happened. I came to this realization as I approached Lake Mead so I decided to continue up Lake Mead as far as it would take me. It made for a nice stretch of climbing. I’m excited to see where all these new roads will lead while knowing many will be locked up behind closed gates.

The ride back to PTs went well with a gnarly accident along DFH between Charleston and Red Rock Ranch/Sahara . A car traveling west on Newton Commons Dr punched through the brick wall at the end of the road and ended up perpendicular to traffic on DFH. Perfectly in the middle of both lanes. Kinda mind boggling to see it in person. Traffic was just starting to back up on north bound Desert Foothills. When I arrived at the Red Rock Ranch intersection there was already a line forming of cars traveling south in the northbound lanes trying to figure out what to do next. Metro had yet to arrive and start directing traffic and close down the road. Needless to say I proceeded with extreme caution expecting an impatient driver to just dart across the intersection and straight into me.
