Commute Loop – 2022.01.27

Finally back on the bike after a few days off.

Took the whip into Swanny’s Friday afternoon to have the brakes looked at. After swapping in some metallic pads I just wasn’t impressed with them at all and was at my whits end troubleshooting the issue. So to the shop! The boys found that the discs were beyond the minimum thickness and needed replacement. Thankfully new discs arrived Tuesday afternoon and were installed the next day. First impression is the brakes are much improved but still aren’t quite what I’m accustomed to with resin pads. I’m hoping they’ll improve as they get more miles on them.

The few days off left me feeling fresh. Ride in was a little chillier than last week, but the gear was up for it. Had a blast sprinting to catch the light at University Center again.

Ride home was uneventful. I left this morning a little worried about the wind, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as forecast. Harmon was a little tricky and the worst, surprisingly was between Alexandria Dr and Hampton Rd on Anthem Pkwy. Think the combination of being along a wide open ridge line and nearly perpendicular to the wind made it so bad.

Now for some rest in front of the TV before hitting the sack to do it all again tomorrow.
