Morning Commute – 2024.03.25

Bummed I didn’t get to ride home, but it’s all part of the job.

Something fun. Today is my 10-year Stranniversary. 10 years ago today I uploaded my first ride to Strava. I then failed to upload another one for 17 months. Things were somewhat consistent between August ’15 and March ’16 before I disappeared until September ’19 (minus a strong week in March of ’19). I guess you could say I’ve been consistent ever since.

When the topic of how I got to the point of riding centuries every weekend comes up, I’m always humble. I started small and did my best to add miles every ride. Numerous incremental improvements eventually add up. I sincerely believe anyone can do it.

Reflecting on the past 10 years, and more so on the past 5, it’s been an amazing trip. From noodling around the neighborhood and throwing up after an insane Democracy effort to regularly commuting, weekly centuries, double centuries, a border-to-border tour, and joining, what I maintain is, the best damn cycling community anywhere, cycling has truly changed my life for the better.

I’m looking forward to seeing where these two wheels take me next.
