It can get weirder!

Last Sunday I was performing some maintenance and adjustments on my bike before going for a ride and fell. I went down to the end of the street, started turning around, and my rear tire slid out from under me. This caused me to slam down on my left side with the majority of the fall on my hip. The pain that first day was pretty intense and I was worried I’d broken it. I decided I’d take a week off from the bike to let my hip heal up some and I’m glad I did.

Today’s ride felt really good. Got started early in an attempt to get the miles in before the wind picked up. Think I avoided the worst of it, but I hit some strong gusts across Horizon Ridge that made sure I was paying attention.

Was feeling really good and on the last few miles I picked up a staple in the rear tire along Via Monet. I stopped and got the hole patched up without issue. I pumped the tire back up, pulled off the pump, and the innards of the presta valve just went everywhere. With no replacement tube I was dead in the water. Called up the wife to come pick me up.

Total bummer, but looking forward to attempting this route again on Wednesday morning.
