Commute Loop – 2023.02.01

Happy to be back on the bike and commuting to work this week. Last week started rough which put me into a funk that stuck with me for the remainder. Before I knew it the week was over and I was heading to SoCal for a century ride. Honestly the timing of that ride couldn’t have been better.

Once thing I learned from last week is that I really need to avoid a “zero week” when it comes to commuting. It’s a total mental health thing. Commuting, and riding in general, helps to keep me positive throughout the week.

Today started off down right cold and really didn’t feel much better when it came to ride home. Thankfully once I made it to Sandy Ridge I started to warm up nicely. Along the way home I was much warmer and honestly overdressed for the temps. I probably could have dumped my shell and heavy gloves, but I didn’t have my lighter full finger gloves or my vest. Meh, no biggie just meant I was a little sweatier than usual when I made it home.

Think today is it when it comes to commutes this week. Not riding tomorrow to avoid back-to-back commutes which takes a little too much out of me. I’m off Friday and have a tune-up appointment with my bike fitter to address some minor gripes. Thinking about riding after that appointment and then a nice group ride during the weekend.
